Suave Kids 3 in 1 Splashing Apple Toss Shampoo - Conditioner - Bodywash

A friend of mine introduced me to the wonders of Suave's "Wacky Watermelon Shampoo for Kids" over the summer. All it took was one sniff of the stuff to get my mouth watering. I was instantly overcome by the sweet, sugary aura of Fruit Roll-Ups. If I didn't know better, I'd say the manufacturer ground up real Fruit Roll-Ups and tossed bits of them into the shampoo. It smells that delicious.

The obvious problem here, if you haven't noticed it yet, is that its label explicitly states that it's FOR KIDS. In today's society (you know, the one full of self-conscious, insecure yuppies) most consumers would, upon learning this information, return the bottle to the shelf they found it on, frown momentarily, and then stick their noses high in the air and buy something more sophisticated, no matter how excited they were about this product prior to reading that terrifying part of the label that says it's FOR KIDS,. We have used this for quite a few years off and on. At first, it smelled good and we liked it a lot. It left my daughter's hair clean and shiny. But after a while my husband (who was in charge of bath time) started complaining about his hands itching and stinging after using this. It didn't happen when using Johnson's baby shampoo, but we just treated his itch and moved on.

Now, my 8 year old uses it on her own in the bath and shower. She, too, is starting to complain about her hands hurting/ itching/ stinging after she gets out of the bath. We switched last night to find that her hands didn't hurt using something as potent as Pantene for grown ups.

I am not sure what would do this. Neither my husband or child has skin problems that would be exacerbated by something here, but obviously its something.

We got this primarily because it was a good price and smelled great. We will, however, be going back to Johnson's shampoo and body wash because the kids cry every time this product gets in their eyes (which happens a lot while young children are playing). Bath time is no longer fun for them because of it. The bottle states that this product is tear-free, but it simply isn't true.
