I put this on my 9 month old daughter, who can sit up in the tub and play unassisted while taking a bath, and she immediately managed to flip over with her head underwater and her legs up in the air. It's the first time she's ever been so upset in the bathtub, she swallowed water and was hysterical. I still wanted to believe it was a good device so I emptied the tub a little more and had her sit with it on...it got in the way of bathing, felt bulky and really didn't do much for her safety at all. I think a simple ring float would do the same job and cost much less. The Papillon is filled with styrofoam balls which stink like chemicals and it just feels cheaply made, plus it took an eternity to dry all the way through. I don't usually write reviews that are bad, but I really, really disliked this product and am mailing it back. With all the wonderful reviews I was very surprised that it wasn't better.

the BEST tub invention ever,

I don't normally write reviews, but we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product. Our daughter has used it from the time she could sit-up and with a little practice and supervision (of course!), she can play in the tub for long periods of time on her own while we watch. I think that the negative reviewer may not have been filling the tub up with enough water... we fill the tub full and let her play, as it's essentially a flotation device and the petals give stability when the water props them up, so if you only bathe your child in 3 inches of water it probably won't do much for you.

I read all the reviews before buying this product and thought the folks who had the baby tip were just not filling the tub enough. I made sure to put plenty of water in the tub and the minute I put my 6 month old in the Papillon (with string tied pretty tight), she flopped to where it tied. It's a simple design flaw that they cleverly omit from the photos. My baby is only 16 lbs and there's a big gap between pillows because of the string. If they would just add a petal on the string it'd be fine but at this point I'm returning it because it's dangerous. Had the opening been to the front she would've flopped face first into the water. There was simply no way to keep her upright in it. I don't know how they photograph that baby without showing a gap and uneven petals. Ugh - now I have to go through the hassle of sending it back. Believe the bad reviews....this thing is a disaster.
