Summary: Steer clear if you have a boy! 2010-05-14
Comment: Where do I start? I took a chance ordering this one as it is brand new on the market and I couldn't find any reviews on it yet anywhere. However, the horn in it that's supposed to keep baby from slipping under really appealed to me, because my 9-month-old son has recently developed a fear of the water after flailing and slipping under the water once about a month ago. My husband was right there to catch him, but it was a scary enough experience for him that he now screams whenever we put him in the tub. I thought the smaller tub with the horn in it would help him to feel more secure. He still screams as soon as he hears the water running, so it didn't work. But that's beside the point. The first time I put my son in this thing, I noticed that the part where you put the baby so the horn holds him in place is entirely too narrow for any baby who is old enough to be sitting up unsupported. Especially boys! The horn was squishing him! I mean like not all of him would fit behind the stupid thing, and my son is just an average sized baby! I actually wound up moving him around to the other side of it because he looked so uncomfortable! It rendered the horn completely useless, as it wasn't even touching him at that point. We've now been using this thing for a week, and I can tell you that it's a piece of junk. I can't speak to durability yet, but the thing will NOT stay inflated. The covers on all the valves are too loose or something, because they keep popping open. My husband had to stick tape on half of them to keep them closed just long enough for my son to take a five minute bath in it. Also, if you are wondering, as I did, whether or not it has some sort of hook or suction cup on it to hang it up with or to secure it to the bottom of the tub, it doesn't. You have to figure out something else to do with it when you are done using it, and I have a feeling that it would probably slip around in the big bathtub if it weren't for the textured bottom on ours. I feel that after using this four or five times, I've given it a fair try and will be digging out the box it came in and seeing if I can return it to where I bought it from. I have never been this disappointed in a product before. Do yourself a favor and order a different inflatable tub.
