Shortly after my son started sleeping through the night, he developed a horrible red, bumpy rash on his bottom that was so raw it make him cry in pain. We tried changing diaper brands, Aquaphor and Desitin for a week and it got worse. We also tried generic anti-fungal cream and leaving him without a diaper. Nothing worked for three weeks.

I took him to his peditrician, who explained that it was a yeast rash, caused by extended contact of sensitive skin with pee during the night. Any diaper can cause this, not just those with Drymax or those for overnight use. Using a protective barrier before bedtime is the best way to prevent it.

The doctor recommended Lotrimin Ultra Antifungal (AF) Cream three times a day. For other diaper changes, gently clean off the baby's bottom and apply Caldasene on the raw spots (putting the powder on your hand first), then cover the whole area with either...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Diaper Rash Remedy Still Works, February 22, 2010

My son would get horrible diaper rash when he was teething. I tried everything from oatmeal baths to diaper rash ointments and nothing worked, in fact it would get worse and then he wouldn't even sit in a bath. My mother told me she used this powder on me when I was a baby and it was the only thing that worked. This product is not found in many stores since this is considered an old fashion remedy. I've had to special order it from the pharmacist on many occassions and recently ordered it from Amazon. I highly recomend this product to any parent who has tried everything to cure a diaper rash.

For whatever reason we cannot find Caldesene in our area. We used it on our kids years ago and wanted to get some for our new grandchildren but discovered that no one carried it in our area.
Amazon had it listed and at a great price. Shipping was very reasonable so we ordered the 2-pack. It is the same Caldesene we remember and that was recommended by our pediatrician. Works great. Highly recommended.
