We previously just used a wash cloth. It never seemed to hold the soap well. We saw this product and decided to give it a go. It is great. It is definitely soft enough to use on baby, and it does not take much soap to build a good lather. Bottom line, we love this product. Tip - buy two, so when one starts to get a little old, you have another ready to go.
New comments - There must be a similar product out there. The first one we bought lasted us at least two to three months. All subsuquent ones would start falling apart after the first few weeks. I can not tell which one I originally bought, so please be aware that there is an inferior product out there.

this was such a good sponge. soft, extremely absorbent but it lasted about two months and was in pieces. so maybe i didnt do all the special care etc e.g. soak in baking soda every now and then etc but even then, two months is a pretty short time for a ten dollar sponge.
So soft & perfect!!,

We used our sponge on our newborn in May 2010 continuously to January 2012 - it has been wonderful and held up for many baths. We still love to use it on our now 20 month old and I am back buying her 2nd one. I hope it lasts as long as the first! Nothing sharp and it's a good size - comfortable in my hand. We foolishly tried to order a different brand who sell a wide variety of sponges, and the 'baby' one was too small and had sea shells in it. The Bath Buddies sponge is superior!
