It's supposed to be their 'better' brand of shampoo, but has same dangerous chemicals as all their lines of shampoos. The review is for this product, which we owned and used until we learned of this fiasco. After years of being pressured to remove harmful chemicals from the baby shampoos, Johnson and Johnson finally announced today that they will phase them out in next 2 years or earlier. A simple google search of 'chemicals in baby shampoo' brings up articles from USA Today, Reuters, Associated Press, Fox News, CBS News, etc. The 2 nocive chemicals are 1.4 dioxane and formaldehyde. None are listed in the ingredients section because they are a byproduct of other chemicals shown on the label. There are countless articles on this and this has been in the news at least twice in the past 2 weeks. These substances are banned in most European countries, but still used by J&J in their US baby shampoo. This review is from: Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo, 18-Fluid Ounces Bottles (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty) We have been using this soap for my son for over 2 years now, since he was a newborn. I was leery of the Johnson & Johnson because I know someone who's baby girl had a very serious reaction and because their Skin Deep ratings were not good. My search began looking for a baby soap that had a good rating (ie not a known cancer causer), that smelled nice, did not break the bank completely to buy it (like California Baby) and that wasn't going to irritate my baby's skin. The result was the Aveeno baby soap. It often goes on sale and there are coupons for this product occasionally too making it not so hard on your wallet. My son has a few food allergies and eczema (resulting from food reactions) so I knew I needed a soap that wouldn't irritate him. Unlike alot of parents we bathe him every night, it's just part of our bedtime routine. I haven't seen any drying of his skin and often use the lotion as well.
I highly recommend this soap! 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Melissa M (Arizona) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo, 18-Fluid Ounces Bottle (Health and Beauty) I had grown up with Johnson and Johnson baby wash and so that's what I originally used when my daughter was born. However she started having skin irritations and my doctor recommended that we switch to the Aveeno wash as she said it's much milder on baby's skin. I followed her advice and it fixed the problem. I now only buy this wash for my daughter and now my son. It also doesn't hurt their eyes at all if they get an in them. I'm very happy with this wash. |
